    I received the same message but for a company A & B Electronic Industries in Louisiana. The local company in Louisiana is real but they have never heard of Alpha Electronics in Japan. I have a lawyer in Japan and I have asked him to check on this. In the meantime, Alpha Electronics appears to have a website at

      Also received this, for collection of same sum from a company in Georgia. Bona fide company. not sure if they claim to owe the money, but Alpha sent a contract that appears to be legitimate. What do you think the scam is?

      got the exact same e-mail from Beam Electronics, exactly the same except the name of the sender. even phone number is the same.     We received a copy of the "Taro Denshi" of "Beam Electronics" email. Absurdly low quality scam, as he says the "debtor" is "Radio Shack," and lists a store address (almost) in Pocomoke City, Maryland. (I say, "almost" because the Radio Shack in Pocomoke City is on Luden Ave, but the contract purchaser is "Radio Shack" on "Linden Ave.") The English in the covering email is beyond illiterate ("this is in responds to . . .") and the contract fails to identify what is being sold. My favorite was the choice of laws paragraph, stating that the contract will be governed "according to the laws ."
    What they ask for is our retainer letter along with our retainer requirement and they ask us to do a conflicts check. But as "Radio Shack" is either a local store owned by Radio Shack Corporation of Ft Worth, Texas or a local franchisee that could be named almost anything (although somewhat unlikely to have ordered $1,110,000 worth of "product" from a Japanese vendor, we were, sadly, unable to even run a conflicts search. Damn, back to work on our local clients. I was sort of interested to see how they planned to scam me.

    Thanks for posting this. My dad, an old-school attorney practicing in the Midwest, just got this email from Taro Denshi at Beam. Unfortunately, my dad was excited, but we googled the name and reached this helpful website. It demonstrated that it was the scam we suspected.

    I just got this same email from Taro Denshi. I am in-house counsel at a financial institution so they are clearly aiming this at anyone with an Esq. after her name. I wonder if their aim is to obtain bank account information on the pretense that they must wire the funds for the retainer.
